A mediterranean ruderal species by climatic preferences this species was mentioned in the XIXth century by Dimitrie Brandza (Flora Dobrogei, 1885) along the alleys of Constanta harbor, Black Sea. It is said it was once a frequent vagrant presence in colder parts of Europe now very rarely encountered there.
